Over the past week, “Captain Jacko Pistachio” was at the helm of an amazing project called “Buskathon” to which I felt honoured to contribute, as the poet.

The link above will take you to 19 video clips where you will find a gang of creatives at the service of a great cause – our community foodbank.

Poetry hence nestled among music, story telling, Shetland cuisine and humour.

Reading to a device screen from the comfort of the den to an invisible audience proved a novel and somewhat nerve wracking experience at first, though sharing the moment felt as exciting as a more conventional public reading. 😀

What a great experience!

I will do it again! What’s more, within a week of performance, Buskathon raised an incredible ÂŁ5000.00 and folk still have till Wednesday to give a few pennies.

I still remember 1985, a phenomenal LiveAid concert, after which Bob Geldoff once said, “thank you for your money.”

nor, north, northern

Three,

Always a trio of filled thoughts, poetic worlds – three books are gracing my Nordic bookshelf during long stormy winter nights.

One I know well, as a project curated “south” and yet so close to the tip of my fountain pen, inside which some of my heart flows, tattooed in black on blank pages… It is a world close to my home.

And yet I delve back inside time, familiar names without faces from a family of writers. The editor harnessed our verve inside a long house for nine months that would allow us to tie gods, Giants, dwarves, elves within stanzas, prose or music. How I loved each of those nine realms.

And then two more about the north.

I feel avid and yet humble to discover two fellow poets from the house.
My every night filled with their words, universes bound inside pages so distinctive – songs from the north. You too can discover their realms, travelling prints through sun & snow.

Delectable through my northern edge, 60N.

Both titles found on  Amazon 🙂

And now sample, immerse yourself into the audio form of The Nine Realms through its many voices and music.
Thank You for listening, and maybe, supporting the project.
It has felt a magical saga in the true sense.

IMG_0799Not an occupational hazard, but a marvellous world, where we, poets, writers and artists, mingle and collaborate to bring alive our heritage.

This weekend, somewhere in Norfolk, at King’s Lynn Hanse House, a multi-disciplinary collaborative project – entitled The Nine Realms – is celebrating the Viking world. It is the fruit from a wonderful tree, curated and nurtured by Nicky Mortlock c/o ArtiPeeps. It has brought together a long boat load of writers and artists, as well as a boat (head) carver and Millfield School – younglings, who have been participating to the project in their own words.

Two links here, should you wish to acquire a copy of The Nine Realms’ Poetry Book, and or The Nine Realms’ School Book. Now, and if you are lucky enough to visit Norfolk – King’s Lynn this weekend and/or Norwich Library – where there will be poetry read by the poets present there on Monday – please do go along and leave your prints in the guest book! I, the poet based on my 60N latitude, am here in spirit.

“Vikings Ahoy!”, Nicky and all!

Have a marvellous time, everyone!

Isa,
rune of ice,
written as I,
in prey to time, there,
motionless;
found in blue boreal forest,
rooted inside depth of winter,
where frost records
prints of our souls in icicles.
As you descend into
our world,
trees bear homage to
your static sense of ego –
they may recite those words for
snow, so many eyes
deep in cold air,
born of lone
clouds in
a blind
sky.
That woman’s voice in
the forest, with
a piano,
calls
for
her child
somebody
turn in a snowflake.

Indiegogo is… Go!

Thee Nine Realms‘ campaign is now live via  indiegogo – time to grab an oar if you can 🙂

In between now and September, so many rivets to add to the boat, and each one weighs its gold.

Don’t miss it or the live carving of our craft via Vimeo boatmaster live – clinker builder in his workshop.

Thank you for visiting, and many more thanks for your support.
