Learning Curves: ArtiPeeps Update

From friend & project curator Nicky Mortlock

A real hotch-potch of ArtiPeeps news…

For the last week or so I have been concentrating on trying to shape the first ArtiPeeps 5 year business plan, and I have to say this has been no easy task: amidst the swirl of the first stages of the planning of our  ‘Transformations‘ Exhibition/Poetry Reading in September 2014 and our mini- relaunch ahead in October it’s been tricky to squeeze everything in.  September 2014 It may seem like a long way off but time ticks a way so, and the more preparation and space we have the better the outcome of ‘Transformations’ will be. I’m  hoping this will be a real, tangible springboard for us.

Heritage Weekend

Last weekend I went to Hanse Houses Heritage day which was part of the town- (King’s Lynn’s)  yearly heritage weekend. The number of people passing through Hanse’s  doors has upped from…

nordicblackbird’s new recordings

soundcloud logo

Tonight was calm enough to add new files to the iconic orange cloud.

By clicking onthe link of your choice, you shall discover the most recent recordings, from both From Shore to Shoormal / D’un rivage à l’autre, to two selected pieces c/o ArtiPeeps, selected by Nicky Mortlock, Creator & Keeper of the arts’ community for the purpose of a very exciting project, Transformations, or the re-writing of Ovid’s Metamorphoses… Challenging project. Those two pieces of verse will feature among other selected ones as part of a unique exhibition in Norfolk in 2014. More on this later on 🙂

Happy listening 🙂

poet’s voice

Donna in her own voice

Here,

listen to the the Canadian side, in her own words, thanks to soundcloud.

Her side of the shore for you to enjoy. I still remember each line, as an earthly communion with each gentle leaping of tiny waves on the sand. Now it is recorded for posterity. Thank you, D, for such a gift 🙂Shoormal_cvr_s

enjoy – we did,

pupitre mareel screen 2

inside a “more than fullhouse” – it was amazing, and we, co-authors and publisher, would like to thank everyone who could manage to sit inside Screen 2, as well as our hosts, Shetland Arts & Joe’s grant provider, for allowing us to launch “From Shore to Shoormal / D’un rivage à l’autre” on Sun 1 Sep 2013. Written by two voices, read by two voices from either side of Atlantic… Our audience enjoyed the spoken word, music and images blown up on the cinema screen. We were graced by great guest readers – Marsali Taylor, Joe Blades & Christian Tait. Steve Davidson & Aland McKay provided enchanted music.

THANK YOU EVERYONE – having you was a joy, as well as a memory I shall treasure forever. Merci.

With renewed thanks to my young photographer, Craig Meheut, who provided all the scrapbook images. Merci, mon cher photographe ;-)The trans-Atlantic adventure continues. What a fabulous celebration it was! More to come. WATCH THIS SPACE!
